How to view email headers with OWA and Outlook 2013

While there are plenty of reasons for wanting to look at a message header, to see where mail has come from or from which email address it was sent, being able view an email header is critical for reporting SPAM and checking to see where a message has really come from.

Display Message Headers with OWA 2013

  • Log into OWA
  • Double click the email message, so the message opens in a new window
  • With the message open in a new window, click the letter/envelope icon to open the Message Details

  • Header information will appear in a new window, under Internet Mail Headers. Copy and paste the information from this field.

Display Message Headers with Outlook 2013

  • Open the mail in question and select File
  • Select Info and then Properties
  • Header information will appear in the properties window under Internet Headers. Copy and paste the information from this field.

Use Ctrl+Shift+R to "Reply all" to the selected message.
